The Catalogue & Handbook was submitted into the literature section of the Australian National Stamp Exhibition in Brisbane, Queensland, August, 2026, & received a Large Vermeil award, just one notch below gold!
The very tight May, 2026 submission deadline meant that only a draft manuscript in a 3-ring binder & without a Table of Contents, could be submitted in time.
Based upon international judging criteria, points had to be deducted, which appears to have been the difference between achieving a gold medal.

‘Congratulations on your award. The amount of work & original research which has gone into this work is very evident, dealing with a modern subject, on which relatively little has been published’.
‘It is understood that the final product will differ significantly from the loose pages in a folder that we have had to judge, (effectively a draft), & that some of the comments here, may not be applicable to the final published work’.
‘Your score of the final publication may therefore be significantly higher & you are encouraged to enter this book in a future exhibition’.
‘You are to be congratulated on a significant contribution to the published works on Australian Philately’.
Acting on the Judges Constructive Feedback!
The judges provided very well considered recommendations for enhancing the book further, & when the book is officially released in mid/late November, it will fully reflect all recommendations & include the Table of Contents!
I am very confident that when the officially released (hard-back) Catalogue & Handbook, is resubmitted into the Canberra, Australian National Show in June 2027, it will be very well positioned to achieve Gold & potentially Top Gold!

The rarely seen GPO PERTH ‘Perfin’ at SWANPEX 96, in Western Australia. The body of the stamps were perforated in the shape of a SWAN & WA, before being applied to a special envelope show cover.
No MNH examples were perforated.
The 2004 Ghan to Darwin issue, was commemorated with beautifully illustrated covers of the inaugural train journey from Adelaide to Darwin & return.
The super rare 30c NPC issue was specially printed by Australia Post, for the Sydney 95 Stamp Show, to support the 75c airmail postage rate to New Zealand.
Historically, denominations below the standard postage rate were not authorised by Australia Post.
In 1995, the base postal rate was 45c!
